While many might still not believe that VR is a common everyday phrase, the reality is that VR is now in commercial use. And this also includes within the online English learning industry.

Our collogues at ECs very own VR product Simmula, are pioneering VR for English Language learning.

One Research study has shown that there are language learning benefits to VR such as:

• students remember vocabulary more easily within a VR environment
• anxious students feel more comfortable in VR
• students produce higher level language than expected of them during VR lessons

Life Skills

The growing popularity of ChatGPT, the world of education is changing forever, rethinking the way it approaches teaching and learning. Learning is no longer about copying the notes, because now AI will that that all for us.

It is no longer enough to just understand the vocabulary and grammar points, but it is important to use critical thinking to apply this information into real life contexts and scenarios. This is is where the rise of life skills comes in, and language learning is not excuse. In order to learn language effectively, we need to put it into practice with real world scenarios of writing and speaking.

At EC Live, we are offering Business Skills Modules that is purposely created to give working professionals the English language confidence they need to use English within their workplace for either presentations, meetings, career development, or for communication at the workplace.

Tasked-Based Learning

Teachers already refer to this when talking about planning lessons and that is TBL, Task Based Learning. This type of teaching and learning method gives students the control and opportunity to use the English creatively in the classroom, to then replicate in everyday life. Such tasks include having students collaborate in groups, work on projects together, and discuss new findings. In 2023 we will see this type of learning become more important.
